Strelitzia reginae - Bird of Paradise
Belonging to its own family the Strelitziaceae and originally coming from South Africa this rather
slow growing plant can reach a height of about 5' ( 1,50 m ) . It grows from a strong rhizome, producing
leathery long oval leaves on strong stems. Fascinating inflorescence reminiscent of a crane is held above
the leaves. Suitable for planting in larger containers and a very precious plant also for smaller
conservatories. Can be grown in full sun to 50% of shade under temperatures not below 10 degrees
Celsius.
