Musella lasiocarpa - Musaceae
This rare species was first found in 1855 in Yunnan/China at 1200 m above sea level.
However it grows up to an altitude of 2500 m in its natural habitat and is obviously rather cold hardy.
The plant survives regular frosts in Yunnan. Its hardiness reaches USDA zone 5 or 6. While only
growing up to 60 cm high in nature it may reach more than 150 cm in cultivation. This plant is grow-
ing in a tight clump producing suckers. The long lasting inflorescence is of butter-yellow color.

Musella lasiocarpa rhizome with new sprouting leave at tip of pseudostem two weeks after being
potted.
